gourmet friday night

I wasn't really paying attention to what was happening for dinner on Friday night. I was too engrossed in getting my work done. When the BF came home with shrimp, baguette, lobster, fresh fruit and chocolate, I quickly finished up my work to see what was up!

It turns out, we had an impromptu gourmet dinner! The best part? All this decadent food was only about $20 each- more like $80 to $100 each at a restaurant!

Here's the equation for a romantic dinner for two at home:

Wine, our favourite french variety.

Candles in pretty cups all around the table.

A fun starter to help calm your starving stomach before the other courses.

The BF's absolutely to die for french onion soup. It's amazing.

Something you wouldn't normally have for the main. For us, it's lobster. To cut the buttery decadence we pared it with roasted asparagus and portabello mushroom.

The all-time best dessert after a full bodied meal like that is melted 70% Lindt with a variety of dipping fruit. Oh my.

And there you have it. A most amazing meal with wonderful company. Next time you want to go out for dinner (and you have the energy!) try something at home instead. Put on some fancy clothes and play mellow background music. Don't do the dishes until the morning though!
