Long Weekend with the Family

Both sides of my family had parties this long weekend! We had the perfect weather to celebrate being together.

Day one was at my mother's mom's house. The BF and I showed up to an empty house! They has all gone out just in time for our arrival. So we did what any normal people would do: go for a beer and some pub food down the street! This is no ordinary pub. It's a family tradition. I got a Perch Roll platter, famous among these parts for being fresh caught the day of serving and smothered in a homemade fish sauce. Amazing! Billy even enjoyed his homemade (and so juicy and good) burger.

I love morning at grandmother's house. Sunday morning was no different than usual. After we fed "the boys" my grandmother and I raced around gathering things from the garden. I pulled my first carrots!

After a busy morning we headed down to the beach for my dad's sister's surprise birthday party. It was a picnic, so obviously I was ecstatic. My mom and I pooled our resources to make an enviable old school picnic.

On the menu was: ham and swiss sandwiches and veggie sandwiches (all cut in triangles!), my mom's quinoa salad, my grandmother's salsa with chips, veggies and hummus and of course some lemonade in a jar!

The party was beach themed so my mom let me borrow a wrap that I turned into a dress.

My cousin's with made this AMAZING birthday cake. Believe me it was just as tasty as it looks!

Love this picture of my dad and my uncle!

Hope your weekend was as sunny as mine!
