The Great Glebe Garage Sale

Every May the yuppy neighborhood of The Glebe in downtown Ottawa open their front yards to the peasants of Ottawa to sell us their junk. It was my first year and I'm already planning my strategy for next year!

As all yard sales the key is to get there early. We were one of the first at 7am! Check out this bounty for only $11!

Bunt pan and silver tray ($1), yellow belt, crochet hat and grey jacket ($5), blue sweater ($5) - experience (awesome!)

Of course fancy yard saling needs an equally fancy yard saling outfit:

Clear raincoat! It was rainy and cold but die-hard yard salers packed the streets!

We were starved when we got back (yes I said we, the BF wanted to see what the hype was about. He's never going back) so I made salmon salad sandwiches (with fresh bread from our local bakery Bread and Roses) from last night's leftovers. I simply made two extra fillets of salmon without the greek topping (I spread some dijon mustard on them for extra kick). The next day I added green onions and a bit of mayo, mixed it up and spread it on the bread.

Meal one: greek salmon with sauteed broccoli and garlic crustini.

Meal two: salmon salad sandwich with broccoli salad.

  2. The Great Glebe Garage Sale is pretty awesome isn't it? I didn't brave the rain this year but last year I got an awesome picnic set and a Pierre Trudeau paper doll book for my friend who is obsessed with Trudeau...you just never know what you'll find!

  4. Nice rain jacket! You & I live in the same city. Woot. Go Ottawa. Didn't make it to the sale, though. But I go yard saling every warm weather Saturday.
