Jen's Wedding Shower

My lovely friend Jen asked me to be one of her bridesmades! I had a ton of fun planning for her shower recently. Fun and interesting moments.

On my way out of the house with my many items, I actually dropped her present on the cement! Two expensive bottles of wine and one pretty wrapping job down the drain and only a few spare moments to remedy the situation.

You see, her shower theme was "stock the bar, around the world". Each guest was given a country, I got Australia (hence the cute kangaroo on my present!). It's a good thing I had an extra bottle of Australian Shiraz and some beers so I didn't have to show up empty handed! I was even able to salvage the invitation to make another custom bag.

These bags are awesome (but not very sturdy!). I got them from the dollar store and you can either write your "card" right on it or glue cute pictures or mementos to customize it. Here, I glued on her shower invitation.

I even tried to be a little ausie with my outfit! I thought my rabbit necklace was very appropriate!

My next stop was to the party store to pick up 12 balloons. Here's what 12 balloons in the back of your car looks like:

For the actually party we only featured 6 balloons because when I got in the house I thought it would be fun to let them go. Her ceiling killed 6 in a gun range-like burst of sound. I like to make an entrance!

I offered to bring shrimp dumplings and fruit with yogurt dipping sauces.

The BF is awesome, these are actually his recipe so I enlisted his help on friday after work to help me make them. I intended to do them after I got back from the movies with my girlfriend but he had a surprise for me when I got home. He had made all 22 dumplings while I was gone. What an awesome guy.

Keeping with the blue and orange theme I brought some giant martini and wine glasses and we bought candy to fill them. Ultimately it was a bad idea because I ate SO much candy because it was always accessible. Mmmm... candy.

The food. Oh all the glorious food.

Jen's sister, Laura is a genius! Check out these cute indicators. She did a great job planning and organizing everything.

What a gorgeous lady our Jen is! And don't you want to go to their house for a party now? Check out that booze stash! The groom was speechless when he walked in and saw it all! Priceless.

Congrats guys, can't wait for the bachelorette next!

  2. Oh my goodness, if I get married again I'm totally doing a theme like that so we end up with tons of wine and booze. That's fantastic.

You look utterly adorable, I love the orange and yellow in your outfit! Your gift is so cute too, I'm sorry you had to re-do it although you did it well!

Hope you had a great time!
